Reinforcement in Class Room

Reinforcement means to increase the ratio of result by using stimulus like things, money, praise etc.

Reinforcement is of three types.
1. Material
2. Activity
3. Verbal
  •  Always keep on changing appraisal words, for the child needs newness.
  •  Always use reinforcement at the spot.
  •  To appreciate slow learners always give them bodily touch, like pat at their back, hold little closer, let the class clap at their little improvement on response.
  •  Spend some time with them especially.
  •  Share your things with them, like pen, mobile etc.
  •  The kids like to use money mostly, so as parents to give money to appreciate them.
  •  While writing comments on copy or test you must use the name of the child in comments like “Sara I like you style of writing” or smiling face or smiling star and sad faces.
  • You can appreciate child by using edibles.
  •  Reinforce the child by giving titles like; tiger, lion, brave boy etc.
  Being a teacher you can use the appraisal words such as;
  • Good effort
  • Effort is counted here (Also show the lacking area)
  • Splendid work
  • Praise worthy
Actively use of reinforcement has magic spell on performance of a child at school. Everybody loves to hear praise, so reinforcement makes the work easiest for teacher and parents to great extent.

According to Piaget, child from age 3 to 5 years believe on reward and punishment. So, use of money and things is more benefited to enhance their habits towards studies. Lacking area of the slow learners can be improved much by using all types of reinforcement. Reinforcement depends upon factors such as material, activity or verbal words as far as child reinforcement is concerned.  Teachers have to pay special attention towards using reinforcement during class hours.
